Armed with my iPhone, I joined a dozen photographers lined up with their tripods on the edge of Maroon Lake for a sunset view a day before the autumnal equinox. With the golden hues of aspen leaves, the pink sunset, and the deep purple of the Maroon Bells, colors surrounded us. Referred to as "The Deadly Bells" by the U.S. Forest Service, these two Colorado 14ers are tantalizing for many climbers.
