Keeping the Faith
The ruins of the 14th century cathedral reflected in the door of the new cathedral. Coventry cathedral was bombed to destruction on 14th November 1940 only the tower, spire and outer wall remaining. The ruins were preserved and the new cathedral was built at its side. It now stands as the International Centre for Reconciliation with links around the world and a special relationship with the Kaiser Wilhelm memorial Church in Berlin which was destroyed by allied bombing in the same war.
