    This is a rose hip from a 'Beach Rose', they're edible even in the raw state. They're high in vitamin C, used in Jellies and the leaves when brewed in tea are good for circulation and digestive ailments. The shrub itself is a vital part of the ecosystem of beach dunes as it helps thwart erosion and provides a source of food for wildlife
