A Place of Pilgrimage
This was taken on Our Lady's Island Wexford, Ireland. It's an ancient place of Pilgrimage and pre-dates Christianity. In 1867 it was dedicated to Our Blessed Virgin Mary. The Irish name for Our Lady's Island is 'Cluain na mBán' Which means 'the meadow of the women'. Considering that this place was the centre of druidical worship it would not be far fetched to suggest that in pre Christian times it was inhabited by female druids. Faith changes but continues in different forms through the years.
