During a tour of the Ihlara Valley on a recent visit to Turkey, our guide pointed out the small Yilani Kilise (Church of the Serpents) at the top of a stairwell. After more than millennia since it was last used as a place of worship, the cozy hideaway church still inspired awe in its visitors. The light filling the room was a powerful and ironic reminder of Matthew 5:14 - "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden."
