Monastery Nikolje is the oldest church among Ovcar-Kablar monasteries, built on the slopes of Kablar, on the left bank of the West Morava. On the basis of architecture characteristics it is supposed that it dates back to middle ages, most likely from the end of 14th and the beginning of 15th century. The most valuable manuscript of Serbian culture written at the beginning of 17th century, Karan Gospel is kept in the treasury of monastery Nikolje.
