The Langur's Prayer
With the sunlight trickling down through the leaves, two young langurs look up in reverence at a tree. Whether serving as a haven, a larder or a home, the trees of the forest are the closest thing these langurs have to a deity, a divine being that cradles their way of life. Perhaps the only difference between our evolutionary cousins and us lies in the manner we regard Gaia, with some of us sitting at her feet in a silent prayer of gratitude, and others lurking nearby with a chainsaw.
