A member of the 26th Special Tactics Squadron secures the folded U.S. Flag during a retreat ceremony dedicated to the memory of Senior Airman Mark Forester, Sept. 29, 2015, at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. Senior Airman Forester was a Special Tactics combat controller who coordinated close air support for special operations teams in hostile environments. He was killed in action when he put himself in direct line of fire to save a teammate’s life, Afghanistan, Sept. 29, 2010.
This feels like a candid moment well photographed the light complementing the mood of the moment. This is a tough picture to position for but is a poignant and indelible image that will resonate with those who see it.
