Toque macaque
Pale-fronted Toque Macaques (Macaca sinica aurifrons) are common in the wet zone of Wilpattu National Park
Among toque macaques, there are hierarchies among both males and females. A troop may consist of 8 to 40 individuals. When the troop becomes too big, social tension and aggression towards each other arise. Wound and broken legs can result and the troop need to divide in 2 or more groups.
