    I took this photo of a nesting Red-throated Loon (Gavia stellata) on a small island on shallow, tundra lake in the Queen Maud Gulf Bird Sanctuary, Nunavut, Canada (2009). We were conducting research on nesting light geese, sea ducks, and other avian species in the region.
