I was In South India in May 2013. The temperature soared to 45 degrees C or more and people getting heatstroke was daily news. The birds too were finding it hard and looking for water in the hot sun. I saw that many birds were coming to this broken drain pipe in the apartment where I was staying. As the water dribbled out, birds would queue up and quench their thirst.I took this shot of a female purple sunbird trying to drink water from the still wet pipe.
