It was blisteringly hot in May 2013 in South India. Birds were parched for water and the generally shy creatures were bravely coming close to humans, in search of water in the hot sun. This broken drainpipe in the apartment I was staying in, proved to be a bird magnet. Many different birds would queue up to quench their thirst when the water was coming out of this pipe. I took the shot from the kitchen doorway, of this purple-rumped sunbird drinking water,looking up at an angle to get this shot.
