I came to the Grand Canyon in February as a storm from Alaska was blowing in. I waited at Hopi Point for 3 hours in freezing temps and completely gray, overcast skies, hoping for some magic. Just as the sun was going to dip below the horizon the light broke through for a moment, shining on these peaks and creating a light beam. I had a wide lens on when I realized this would be so much better close up. I frantically changed lenses with my frozen fingers, hoping the light would last. It did!
