I came across this well while on a drive through the forests around Ooty. The lake in picture isn't the great Avalanche, but something much smaller and naturally formed. But what was interesting was the positioning of the well (functioning indeed) that is 10-20mtrs away from the lake. The locals still use the well, although they could walk a few meters and fetch instead from the lake. Irony or paradox; eitherway, it is interesting.
