Rising above the hundreds of tents at the Esslingen Medieval Christmas Market is the city's historic city hall built in 1420. Built as a trading and wheelhouse it was redesigned from 1586-1589 on the north side in the Renaissance style. During this renovation period also received the bell tower and the astronomical clock.
