This bald is called Max Patch and is found near the North Carolina-Tennessee border. The path in the foreground is part of the Appalachian Trail and the 360 degree view is supposed to be one of the highlights for thru-hikers. On a very windy day we walked just this small section over the holiday break; the clouds kept threatening but never did unleash the rains on us.
