    Edit Photo Details The Dragon's Tail   #indonesia #bali #festivals #galungan #gamelan #2015 #penjor
Every year Bali celebrates Galungan, a festival that marks a temporary return of ancestral spirits to the living world. I was fortunate enough to attend Galungan while studying dance and music in Bali. Each family constructs a penjor (shown here) from bamboo with an offering at the base that is said to represent the tail of a dragon. They are placed along the street outside each family's house. Photo was shot on my iPhone 6 with minor color adjustments via a phone app.
