The baboons we studied are individuals. We give them names, we record their activities, we bear witness to their social dramas, triumphs and failures. Most of the time they are energetic and flamboyant in their activities. Most of the time you know roughly what they're thinking. They are so like humans in so many ways. This baboon perched on a log watched the quiet ripples distort her image. In these quiet moments you have to wonder if they are able to reflect the same way we do.
