Being just 4cm long (nose to tail tip) our new baby gecko pet runs free through home and will keep it cockroach-free when growing up. Its head is about 4mm width only!. For macro-photo there're few more convenient choices than a super-zoom camera with a good Close-up lens attached (Marumi 330).
