Every night during the summer, tourists pack the Congress Avenue Bridge in downtown Austin, Texas. Both above and below the bridge there's a hush as they wait. The sun sets, and the emersion is almost instant. A bat flutters out, then another; and suddenly there is an army of gently chirping, gracefully spiraling flying rodents racing off to hunt their prey.
