Celebrations in the main plaza (El Zocalo) in Mexico City continued well after the entry of the New Year, where thousands gathered every night. This year the city installed a huge (100+) illuminated Christmas tree, an ice skating area, and a show of lights on the main wall of the Mexico City Cathedral.
