My father passed away on March 11, 2014. In the years prior to his death, he began propagating roses. At his funeral, the greenhouse that employed him sent 2 rose bushes that my father had propagated. I took 1 home and planted it in my front garden. Every year on his birthday, I bake Dad his favorite cake--red velvet with cream cheese frosting--and place it under his rose bush. It reminds me that however sad I might feel at that time, my father's life will forever go on through that rose bush.
