We were having a picnic, looking at this stunning view, so calm and peaceful. But at both ends of this road, Kashgar and Pakistan, so many conflicts and bomb attack. It’s just a total contradiction. This photo was taken in Sand Lake (Bulung Kul) while I was traveling on Karakoram Highway to Karakul Lake in the Pamir Mountains. Karakoram Highway, the highest paved international road in the world, connects Western China and Pakistan, is one of the very few routes that cross the Himalayas.
