Sunrise over Cowes Beach
This shot looks east along the Cowes Beach foreshore. On the sheltered side of the island, it is normal to view tranquil ocean conditions with gentle wavelets lapping the shoreline. However, the constant rise and fall of the tides causes severe erosion. The recently installed timber barrier in the foreground can be seen to be holding back the sand as it backs up against the barrier.
