Margarita Mkhitaryan, age 101, at right, was a year old when her family fled the Ottoman pogroms against Armenians in 1915. Today, the frail centenarian is cared for by her daughter Gayane Mkhitaryan, center, and a bustling houseful of relatives in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Between 600,000 and 1.5 million Armenians died a century ago in what is today Anatolia, Turkey. Millions of ethnic Armenians now live dispersed across the globe--a diaspora scattered by war.
