The beach is known for the fish market that sits there twice a day. The fish market is one of the largest suppliers of fish to the state of Maharashtra. Not only can one buy fish individually, but the market also auctions fish on a daily basis. Types of fish found at the market include seafood like shrimps, crabs, squid, octopus, local fish like pomfret and bangda, and even hammerhead sharks. Once the boats roll in with their catch, bullock led carts are used to transfer the fish to the market.
