Omar quit school and supported his family in South Africa when his father went bankrupt, running two successful shoe stores. Leaving these businesses to his family, he moved his wife and two children to Canada with enough money to rent an apartment and start a small business. Once here, he found a small space and opened up shop. 56 years later, his son Raz who was 5 when they arrived, runs that same shoe store which Omar opened. Omar passed away but his son speaks very proudly of him.
