I photographed this Eastern Red-tailed Hawk with a freshly-caught Gray Squirrel near my northcentral Wisconsin home on a cold January afternoon. I used a nearby tree for a natural blind, and the hawk, which was aware of my presence, was not bothered. The hawk remained on its perch with the squirrel after I quietly left the scene. For the hand-held photograph, I used a Nikon D7100 with a Nikkor AF-S VR 300mm lens.
