Roustain going for the Rose
I was in the French town of Arles for its photo festival when I was introduced to its fierce local bull fighting culture. Naturally I had to go down to the arena to see for myself what was what. As there wasn’t a ‘proper’ bullfight on I went instead to an event which is a kind of training session for apprentice bullfighters. A rose is placed on the head of a young bull and its horns are corked. A team of apprentice bullfighters then tries to snatch the rose from between the bulls horns.
