As someone who has lived rurally for many years, one of the things I noticed most about NYC was the amazing number of people walking around at any given time of the day or night. Rushing, strolling, talking or drinking coffee as they walked, I loved seeing the energy and variety of patterns of their movement as they made their way to some destination, or like me, were simply out enjoying the bright afternoon sunshine.
