Pu`uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historic Park in Honaunau, Hawai'i is an ancient refuge for someone who had broken the sacred laws. It was a place to escape death and be protected by the "Pu'uhonua." No harm could come to those who reached the boundaries of this place of refuge.
