A teleferico cable car will carry you over part of Quito and up a mountain, climbing 1,200 meters. It drops you off right where the volcano begins, and you can hike another 700 vertical meters to the summit. A surprisingly few amount of people are to be found roaming the high paramo- step off the trail and into another valley and you will find yourself in the wild.
