The White House Ruins in Canyon de Chelly National Monument were built by the Anasazi people and occupied between 1040 and 1275. They are at the base of the 800 foot tall Spider Mountain. Canyon de Chelly is the spiritual center of the Navajo nation and home to a large number of important archeological and historically significant ruins and hieroglyphs.
