As a former track and field athlete specializing in the long jump and 100 meter dash I have always been inspired by Jesse Owens. At the 1936 Berlin Olympic games, Adolf Hitler was insistent on proving the Aryan people were the dominant race. Jesse Owens single handedly proved him wrong wining 4 gold medals at the games and making Olympic history. He is of course noted for making Olympic history but he also made tremendous progress in the human rights movement.
