At the time of this photo, this adorable little seal was still alive, but barely. It was tragic to see this playful creature exhausted and laboring for breath just yards away from it's home...no longer able to exist in it. Seals beaching to die has become an epidemic along the CA coast recently. The cause is unknown, however marine biologists speculate the change in water temp's has affected the food supply they depend on to survive. Tearfully I pleaded, but no rescue was coming for this one.
