Open Water Swimmer
Fallen jade vine blooms turn blue after a day or two. Their unusual shape fires the imagination . Here they are arranged to resemble ocean waves, at least in the way I used to draw waves as a child. When I see large waves, I imagine jumping in and swimming with the freedom of a whale. With thanks to the botanical garden in Leiden that allowed me to take the fallen blooms home.
This image is brilliantly executed, and wonderfully conceptual. It tells the story of ocean in a tangible and creative manner with nature found on land, it also repurposes fallen dead petals into a live, dynamic composition. Absolutely inspired. Genius. I so love this!
