Affectionate Owls
The burrowing owl can often be found outside the burrow nest in favorable light conditions. I encountered this pair mid-morning, and observed behaviors including gathering of food, digging in the sand, and displays of affection. Here, the male owl, appearing quite smitten, preens his mate.
