    Edit Photo Details My mother towards the end of life  
    My mother died a year ago today. Before she died, she was in and out of hospital, getting progressively weaker, but surprising us all by rallying and seeming to recover, before another bout of illness. This picture was taken after we'd been told she was expected to die that very day. In fact, she lived another two years. Death came for her, but she defied it on this occasion.
