Woke up when the stars were still twinkling above. I cycled to Ahu Tongariki in the dark with a flashlight strapped to my head. Once there, under the shadow of the edge of the visible Milky Way, I set up my camera; waited for the sun to rise as I sipped some coffee out of a thermos. The clouds were rolling in around the same time as the sun came up...it truly was magical.
