Snowy Plover
Each March on the Florida gulf coast the snowies show up, establishing their mates and then their nesting areas. Tiny and so well camouflaged, they are almost invisible. Also very vulnerable, they seek quiet on the beach which is scarce today where dogs and people continually disturb them. A conservation group ropes off the space around their nests which allows some protection. The babies are tiny balls of fluff with legs.
