I rarely get to northern Minnesota at the same time as clear sky's and the forecast of an aurora event. This is the exception. I also have read that a moon in the sky is not a favorable thing to have around when attempting to capture pictures of the aurora. However, for this image the half moon provided light for the foreground and barn and the crisp -11 degree atmosphere allowed the aurora to shine through.
