The portal
There are many remnants of logging operations from the early 1900's in the area around Port Alberni. Known locally as "hole-in-the-wall" this tunnel was bored in a shale cliff between 2 creeks to facilitate a water pipeline to provide water for the logging trains and can be found along the "Log train trail". In a sense, its almost like a portal to an earlier time.
