Off Isabela Island in the Galapagos, we found a large school of salemas being chased by sea lions. To capture the dynamics between predators and prey I dived below the salemas, and looked up, waiting for the sea lion to dive through the school. I wanted to use the natural light from the surface above to cut the silhouette of the sea lion, while highlighting the prey in the foreground with my strobes. It took me three dives to get the right composition.
