This shepherd is sitting with his goats at the river directly in front of Poenari Castle, at the Arges River tributory Raul Doamnei, also known as "The Lady River". This is the spot where Vlad Tepes III's wife threw herself off the ramparts of the tower into the river saying she would rather be eaten by the fish of the Arges than be captured by the Ottoman Turks.
