A young moose calf, aprox 6 months of age, studies me in the early morning hours one fall morning. Three days later she would become an orphan calf when her mother would have to be put down due to injuries she sustained when her leg was broken. The entire incident could have been avoided if other photographers respected and gave wildlife the space they deserve. I think about this baby often, wondering if she made it her first winter, and if she did, have I seen her and didn't know it.
