    The natural habitat of these endangered black footed penguins, spheniscus demersus, off the coast of S. Africa, is sadly no longer pristine, due to over fishing and human consumption of their eggs. If their current decline is not halted, they will be extinct in 10 years. Thanks to the efforts of Banham Zoo in the UK, this group is thriving as part of the European Breeding Programme. We MUST recreate some pristine seas! (see in comments below for more details about these charming birds)
