    Reported by:

Every year during the monsoon season Tonle Sap lake, Cambodia, overflows and floods the surrounding low lands. To cope with this annual flood, people build their houses on high stilts, or establish floating villages that migrate from the lake to the surrounding rivers and back as the waters rise and fall. This image of a woman poling a dugout canoe loaded with water hyacinth is from Kampong Phluk stilt village on the Tahas River, during the monsoons when Tonle Sap overflows into the river.
