    Reported by:

I didn't realize when I was observing and taking photos of a male red-winged blackbird, what all his activities meant (calling loudly from the elm trees, flying to the same spot in the field and clinging to the high weeds). I had barely noticed a brown bird, deep in the weeds of the field, until suddenly he seemed to be chasing the bird from the field. I was delighted to find out later that the brown bird is actually the female red-winged blackbird and I had witnessed their mating ritual.
