This bittern is really small compared to the American Bittern. Often, they hide between plants and are difficult to spot as they blend so well with the environment. I almost missed this little bittern and would have walked on without seeing it. Thank goodness I did because they seldom are out in the open. It was my lucky day yesterday morning as I found 2 least bitterns out in the open.
