“In the 80s, there was free poaching everywhere in the park and almost all animals got extinct. We had to fight hard to get the land back from the community. Today, with 300 km2, Lake Mburo National Park is the smallest savannah park in Uganda and it’s only a third of the size it used to be. It’s been a tough battle, but the situation is improving. We have 100 leopards living in the park and last year 15 giraffes were reintroduced. And we are very proud.” -Mburo Park ranger
